Voters in Liberty County realize the value of industry and have repeatedly shown support. Over the years various proposals to exempt manufacturing, distribution and E-commerce inventories from property taxes have been put before voters and have been approved.
Climate
Few snow days
Besides the opportunities for year-round recreation, Liberty County’s sub-tropical climate make winter weather interruptions rare. Snow has actually accumulated only twice in the last 30 years.
The area is subject to hurricanes, but most storms that have impacted the state came out of the Gulf of Mexico, and across Florida’s Panhandle and south Georgia, dissipating strength before reaching the area. The Georgia Emergency Management Agency reports the last hurricane to strike directly from the Atlantic was Category 2 David in 1979, and that the last major storm (Category 3-5) was a Category 4 storm in 1898.
