The Liberty County Development Authority held its annual fall Industry Appreciation Reception on October 2. The oyster roast and low country boil was hosted at the scenic Dorchester Shooting Preserve.
Sponsors, besides LCDA, included Choate Construction, Ameris Bank, and Hussey Gay Bell. Approximately 100 people attended, representing Creative Home Ideas, DS Smith, Elan Technology, Safavieh, Seohan Auto Georgia, SNF, Target, Tire Rack, Westin Furniture, and many supportive partners.
State Representative and Liberty County Development Authority Board Chair Al Williams said, “On behalf of the board and staff, I thank the local industry leaders for their investments in our community. I am proud to honor these companies and their hardworking employees.”
Approximately 4,000 people currently work in LCDA industrial parks and local manufacturing complexes. More than 600 people are employed in Midway Industrial Park and 1,500 in Tradeport East Business Center, with 145 new jobs being added over the course of this year. Two other industrial giants employ nearly 2,000 people in the county, but outside publicly owned industrial parks.
“It’s estimated that as much as 80% of all new jobs are created by established businesses,” said LCDA CEO Brynn Grant. “Our team at the Liberty County Development Authority is focused on supporting the industries already located here while we work to strategically attract new ones.”
