Hugo Boss getting into Ecommerce

The Liberty County Development Authority has paved the way for 65 more jobs to be created in the Midway Industrial Park.

At a recent meeting, Authority members voted unanimously to authorize up to $10 million in bonds to be issued by Hugo Boss for an expansion. The high-end German Company has had a 330,000 square foot distribution center in MIP for 20 years and is expanding here.

Company officials have said Boss is expanding its ecommerce operations and will establish that part of its business in a 187,000 square foot building near the existing facility, increasing their square footage to 517,000.

Authority attorney Kelly Davis has said that while the Authority issues the industrial bonds, the company is responsible for paying them back.

Authority CEO Ron Tolley said the new jobs will increase Boss’s employment to approximately 240 and expand the county’s employment in distribution and manufacturing to 3,800 with a total annual payroll of $250,000,000.

In other business during the meeting, the Authority board:

*Approved architectural drawings of two buildings for two companies hoping to locate in Tradeport East Business Center.

*Approved a contract with Coastal Electrical Cooperative for the installation of 29 additional light poles in Tradeport East Business Center, most along Tradeport Boulevard.

*Discussed fencing at a spec building that was recently completed in TPE by BlueScope Properties. The developers said they have a prospective industry for the 647,000 square-foot building that has requested the fencing.
