Nerdwallet.com study cites 17% income growth
June 24, 2014: HINESVILLE — Hinesville was recently ranked as No. 2 in a NerdWallet.com list of “Cities on the Rise in Georgia.”
Hinesville is the only coastal Georgia city to be featured on the list and one of four of the top 10 cities that are not within the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Liberty County Development Authority CEO Ronald E. Tolley was pleased to learn about the accolade.
“It is positive to see Hinesville featured among so many metro-Atlanta communities known for growth, and it is noteworthy that this development has occurred in the civilian sector rather than among troops,” Tolley said. “The NerdWallet designation is a wonderful third-party validation of the economic vitality within Liberty County.”
The study, released June 13, examines U.S. Census data on population growth, employment growth and income growth from 2009 to 2012. Analysts evaluated data for 37 cities in Georgia with more than 20,000 residents.
In Hinesville, the working-age population grew 13.4 percent, and median income grew 17.3 percent for the largest gain in the state between 2009 and 2012.
