Georgia Trend spots positive trens in Liberty County
Liberty County – Liberty County saw the largest percentage of average annual per capita income growth and was second only to Chatham County in job creation in the 23- county southeast Georgia region from 2001 – 2010 according to the April 2011 issue of Georgia Trend.
“Over the past 10 years, Liberty County has experienced a significant increase in employment, which has led to a region-leading average annual per capita income growth,” states Ronald E. Tolley, chief executive officer of the Liberty County Development Authority (LCDA). “We have been fortunate to create new jobs in Liberty County by recruiting high- caliber companies to the community like Target, The Tire Rack, and Firth Rixson and working with existing industries like Hugo Boss and SNF Chemtall as they have expanded.”
Liberty County’s per capita income increased from $18,282 in 2001 to $27,343 in 2010. The average annual growth in Liberty County during that time period was 5.5%, which was the highest percentage of growth in the region.
From 2001 to 2010, Liberty County added 3,639 new jobs. During the 10-year time period, Liberty County’s employment increased from 14,407 to 18,046.
“At the LCDA, our primary mission is to work with industries, both new and existing, to create new jobs in Liberty County,” Tolley notes. “We are pleased our efforts have been successful towards increasing employment and per capita income in the community.”
