Local students perform better than state average
Liberty County Schools’ high school graduation rate has surpassed 92 percent.
According to the LCSS, the Georgia Department of Education released data Thursday morning showing the district’s 4-year cohort graduation rate at 92.1 percent and the 5-year rate at 95 percent.
According to a press release from the LCSS, these scores reflect the hard work their students, staff, and parents have accomplished despite the ongoing pandemic.
Bradwell Institute’s 4-year cohort rate is 92.3 percent and the 5-year rate is 95.1 percent. Liberty County High’s 4-year rate is 91.9 percent and the 5-year rate is 96 percent.
The state average is 83.7 percent, the release stated.
“Even as the state graduation rate has risen each of the last six years, Liberty County students have continued to widen the gap by increasing the LCSS graduation rate at a faster pace. The tremendous care, concern and commitment shown to our students by our parents, teachers, support staff and administrators should be celebrated,” the release said.
“I am extremely pleased with the progress our students have made,” Superintendent Dr. Franklin Perry said. “These results truly show a community-wide effort. I credit this success to our parents’ commitment to being involved and actively monitoring their students’ academic progress, to our students for believing in themselves and putting in the work, to the strong support of our Board of Education and of course to our staff for their dedication, commitment and intentional focus on every child. Congratulations to all.”
